Overview of the Walks

During these walks I cover edible, medicinal plants, trees, and fungi. You will learn proper identification techniques, ethical harvesting, botanical terms, scientific names, ancestral uses of plants, parts used, health benefits of wild food, and proper time of harvest. You will also deepen your connection to nature by learning more about various ecosystems.

I will cover some basic herbalism. You will be introduced to herbal actions of local plants. You will learn about infusions, tinctures, infused oils, and salve making.

The walks are a slow paced and family friendly. Questions are always welcome. After the walks I'll send out supplemental materials covering some of the plants that we encountered during the walks to enhance your learning.

The walks take place in parks and green spaces in and around Dane County. I will email the location to registered attendees two days ahead of time.

Plan to wear comfy walking shoes and weather-dependent clothing. You are encouraged to bring a water bottle, notebook and pen, and a camera.
